About Lindbergh Literacy

  • Literacy instruction in Lindbergh focuses on the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills our students need to be successful in all future endeavors. From foundational skills in the primary grades to deeper application of comprehension in the intermediate grades and beyond, teaching and learning focuses on providing standards-based, personalized learning experiences for all learners.

    At Lindbergh Schools, Literacy:

    • Is prioritized in every elementary classroom through daily direct, explicit instruction.

    • Incorporates key elements of reading instruction: phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

    • Is designed to ensure that each student participates in whole group, grade level instruction and small group, differentiated instruction.

    • Outcomes are measured through both formal assessment and authentic application.

    • Is a partnership between classroom teachers, families, reading specialists, literacy teaching assistants, instructional design coaches, and administrators.

Lindbergh's Literacy Vision

  • A system of literacy instruction that is comprehensive in integrating foundational skills, the 4 Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity), and enjoyment of reading to develop independent, lifelong readers and writers.
