Assessment: Measuring Student Success
-
Assessments are an important part of our district’s plan to ensure high levels of learning for all students, and preparation for college-level coursework and 21st century careers.
Though tests may be the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word assessment, there is a wide range of methods that educators use to evaluate each student’s academic abilities, social-emotional development and personal growth as an individual.
Lindbergh students participate in state, district and classroom assessments, and the Teaching and Learning department reviews overall assessment data publicly with the Board of Education each July.
Why We Assess Students
-
Like class assignments and report cards, assessments provide information to schools, teachers and families about student progress toward mastery of grade level or course learning goals.
In addition to measuring individual student growth, all of these assessment tools play an important role in measuring collective student performance and growth as well.
This gives our district valuable data we can use to make big-picture decisions about curriculum and instruction, and identify areas of strength and opportunities for growth.
