New Student Representative Selected for Board of Education

Jan. 23, 2024

Lindbergh High School student RJ del Rosario was sworn in as the fourth Student Representative for the Lindbergh Schools Board of Education, during the monthly board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16. RJ will take over from senior Lara Pimentel, who served on the board in 2024.

RJ is excited to get started in his new position.

“Since the position has always been about giving the students a voice, I want to continue to improve what previous representatives have already done,” RJ said. “I definitely would like to implement a clearer form of communication between myself and the high school students.”

RJ is currently a junior and will serve on the board until January 2026. He has already attended Student Board Representative Advisory meetings, where students from each school speak with the student representative about topics important to their building.

A junior from Lindbergh High School is selected to represent the student body on the Board of Education each January. RJ will attend each board meeting and workshop and run the Student Board Representative Advisory group. The student board representative serves for one-full year until the following January. This allows each student to also finish up their final semester of high school.

RJ has an accomplished background at LHS. He is currently a member of the high school marching band and participates in Youth in Government. Additionally, he is a member of the student ambassadors, National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Asian & Pacific Islander Coalition, Equitable Community Helping Others, and the racquetball team.

“RJ brings an impressive background of involvement in diverse activities and clubs at LHS, showcasing his ability to connect with a wide range of peers,” Board President Christy Watz said. “Driven, confident, and passionate about this role, he is committed to bridging the voices of students across all grade levels—elementary, middle, and high school. As he gathers and shares their feedback with the board, we are confident he will excel as a thoughtful and effective advocate.”

In his application, RJ said that inclusion and mental well-being are his most important issues that he would like to address as student representative.

“As a member of Lindbergh’s multiracial community, I have seen many different sides to the student body in regards to this inclusion,” RJ wrote in his application. “As student representative, I would strive to improve outreach programs to both of these, working with Student Life Board Advisory Committee members to strive for a more in-depth understanding of different student identity groups at Lindbergh.”
