Finance Board Advisory Committee: Sept. 12, 2024

Sept. 13, 2024

The Finance Board Advisory Committee met on Sept. 12 to discuss finance-related Board of Education agenda items and other topics of importance to the district's finance and operations.

The main topic for this month's meeting was the Board of Education's 2024 Tax Rate Hearing, which will be on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Chief Financial Officer Joel Scheible explained to the committee how Lindbergh Schools sets its tax rate each year. This year's proposed blended tax rate includes the lowest possible residential tax rate in the state of Missouri, $2.75.

Every month, the Finance Committee also reviews agenda items for the September Board of Education meeting, including payroll and financial reports, contracts and budget adjustments.

The Finance Advisory Committee's next meeting will be on Oct. 10.

The Finance Advisory Committee exists to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in district finances. Committee members discuss areas covered by the district's fiscal management policies. In addition, the Board of Education will direct the specific responsibilities of the committee to review any matters potentially having a significant impact on district finances before the board takes action. This committee is chaired by Chief Financial Officer Joel Scheible.
