Teaching and Learning Board Advisory Committee Update: March 26, 2024
Mar. 26, 2024
The Teaching and Learning Board Advisory Committee met on March 26 to hear updates from the district and learn more about ongoing revisions to the district's science curriculum.
Chief Academic Officer Dr. Tara Sparks provided an update from the Secondary Gifted Task Force's work, including recommendations for Lindbergh High School and the middle school level. The district will meet with students and parents to gather feedback before finalizing recommendations for implementation.
Next, STEM Coordinator Doug Barton and Executive Director of Secondary Education Dr. Ronni Zagora lead a conversation on K-12 science curriculum, which will be revised this summer. Committee members reviewed current curriculum and answered the following questions:
- What are the strengths of the current curriculum?
- What gaps do you see in the current curriculum?
- What could be removed from the current curriculum?
- What learning outcomes would you like to see for Lindbergh graduates?
The Teaching and Learning Committee provides input on teaching and learning within Lindbergh Schools. This includes learning about current curriculum and instructional practices as well as future-ready practices for instruction. As a part of this committee, members will provide feedback and suggestions for subjects undergoing curriculum revision as well as input on priorities for student learning.
This committee is chaired by Chief Academic Officer Dr. Tara Sparks, Executive Director of Secondary Education Dr. Ronni Zagora, and Executive Director of Elementary Education Dr. Craig Hamby
The Teaching and Learning Committee will meet again on April 23.
