January 10, 2024

During the January meeting of the Teaching and Learning Board Advisory Committee, leaders in the district's Teaching and Learning Department discussed three topics. Executive Director of Secondary Education Dr. Ronni Zagora opened the meeting by giving advisory members a preview of new Lindbergh High School courses that will be introduced in the 2024-25 school year. These courses include Advanced Placement 2-D Art, AP Comparative Government and Politics/International Relations, AVID 10, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), IT Innovations, Outdoor Adventures and Survey of Calculus. In addition students can enroll in the following new virtual courses through St. Louis Virtual Campus: American Sign Language, AP Art History, Chinese 2, and Differential Equations.

Dr. Zagora also led a discussion with committee members about how the high school can better communicate not only course offerings, but also college and career pathways for students. The committee reviewed several samples from other school districts and provided feedback on those course catalogs.

Finally, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Tara Sparks shared an update on the district's goal to create a universal field trip experience for students in each grade level for grades K-8.The goal is for each field trip to tie in to the curriculum and expand on student learning experiences in the classroom.

The Teaching and Learning Board Advisory Committee will meet again on Feb. 20.
