Lindbergh Schools, EGL Start Strategic Planning Process

Aug. 24, 2023

Lindbergh Schools selected EGL (Education Governance Leadership) Association as its strategic planning firm for the district at the June 15 Board of Education meeting. The firm visited the district to meet with district administrators and the board for the first time during a day of kickoff meetings, on Aug. 15.

The strategic plan defines the school district’s purpose, outlines strategic goals for the future, and lists core beliefs that are essential to student success. The previous five-year strategic plan is coming to an end after the 2023-2024 school year and will be updated for 2025-2029. This next iteration will be a continuation or expansion of the previous plan.

EGL Facilitator Dr. Todd White spoke to the board at its regular meeting to discuss a timeline for development of the strategic plan and an overview of the community engagement process.

“Your previous plan has served you very well,” White said. “By every measure as you look at the areas of success that you have identified as success metrics, you have really been functioning at a high level. The success of your organization and students is reflective of that.”

White went on to say that this new plan will be an extension of what Lindbergh Schools has done.

“We come from the premise that you’ve already asked yourself really good questions,” White said. “You’ve been thoughtful about the path you want to take, and now we are looking at extending that momentum and trajectory and opportunities for your students and staff into the next five years.”

The next phase of this planning process will occur in September 2023, when EGL will meet with a Strategic Planning Committee, composed of students, parents, staff and community members to establish these guiding principles. During this time, EGL will also hold multiple community engagement events to hear from members of the Lindbergh community.

The strategic plan’s first draft will be finished in February 2024 according to the timeline, and presented for the board’s approval in March 2024.
