The Lindbergh High School Chamber String Ensemble performed for an audience of music educators from across the state on Jan. 27, during the Missouri Music Educators Association annual convention. Each year, the MMEA holds auditions across the state, and it is an incredible honor for student groups to earn the honor of performing at the organization’s annual convention! The Chamber String Ensemble is directed by Tara Kizer.
In addition, Lindbergh Schools Music Coordinator Linda Huck was inducted into the 2023 MMEA Hall of Fame during this year’s conference. The MMEA Hall of Fame Award honors individuals who have made a lasting or enduring impact on music education in Missouri.
Before joining the team at Lindbergh Schools in 2016, Huck taught instrumental music in the Farmington R-7 School District for more than 30 years, serving as assistant director of bands from 1983-2012, and director of bands from 2012-2015. In addition, she served four years as president of the Missouri Bandmasters Association and was State Band Vice President and President of MMEA’s East Central District 7.
Huck’s previous honors include the MMEA Outstanding Music Educator Award for East Central District 7, and the Charles Emmons Outstanding Band Director Award, presented by the Lambda Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity. Instrumental ensembles under her direction consistently earned superior ratings at the Missouri State Evaluative Festival, and she has presented clinic sessions in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, and the Midwest Clinic.
When she’s not coordinating Lindbergh’s award-winning music programs, Huck performs as the Principal Bassoonist with the St. Louis Wind Symphony.
