The Lindbergh Schools Board of Education voted Jan. 19 to hire Lt. Randy Jemerson as Director of School Safety and Security. With 25 years of experience in law enforcement and 28 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, Jemerson will lead the district’s efforts to provide a safe, secure educational environment for all students, staff and families.

One of the district’s strategic goals is to provide safe, secure and innovative district campuses. In this position, Jemerson will coordinate procedures to ensure student safety and security, emergency preparedness and crisis response. He will oversee the district’s security officers and work closely with Lindbergh’s St. Louis County Police School Resource Officers as well.

Jemerson is a police lieutenant in the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, where he has served as SWAT commander, and currently serves as commander of the department’s Civil Disobedience Team/Officer Safety.  In this role, he has trained police officers and school leaders in a variety of school safety scenarios. Jemerson is a certified active shooter instructor and is certified in ALICE active shooter response protocol. As a retired Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserve, he served two year-long, overseas deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn.

His experience leading safety drills and preparing for various scenarios, and his vision for comprehensive school safety planning align well with the district’s strategic goals.”

Jemerson earned his Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security, and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration, from the University of Phoenix.
