Lindbergh's Facilities Planning Board Advisory Committee met on Dec. 13 to review current facilities projects in the district and discuss next steps for the district's Master Facility Plan.

Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Brian McKenney provided a district enrollment update. The district is projecting a steady increase in student enrollment through the 2026-27 school year, which will top out near 8,000 students in grades K-12. This would be an increase of almost 1,000 students overall since the 2011-12 school year.

Superintendent Dr. Tony Lake shared an update on current construction projects including the district Gifted Center, which will be housed in the old Lindbergh High School library; LHS major renovations; and the final phase of LHS Prop R, which is currently out for bid. This phase includes demolition of the 300s/400s building, parking lot improvements, and installation of underground service provider conduits.

In addition, Steven Turckes, PreK-12 Global Practice Leader and Principal for Perkins + Will, presented the Lindbergh Schools Sites and Equity Study. This work took place in 2020 and focuses on creating equity between facilities and improving campus circulation.

Dr. Lake concluded the meeting by sharing next steps for facility work. The district is planning to present a no tax rate increase bond issue to voters in April 2024. The complete facility improvement list for this bond issue is pending, but it will include major renovations to Truman Middle School and new gyms and storm shelters at Crestwood, Kennerly and Long elementary schools.

The Facilities Planning Advisory Committee exists to make recommendations about facility needs and improvements, instructional design and district enrollment trends. The committee also reviews and updates Lindbergh's demographic study every two years.

This committee is chaired by Chief Financial Officer Joel Scheible and Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Brian McKenney. Meetings are run by Superintendent Dr. Tony Lake.
