Technology Committee Update: Dec. 12, 2022

Dec. 12, 2022

The Technology Board Advisory Committee, joined by members of the Teaching and Learning Committee, discussed Lindbergh's current computer science curriculum and instruction.

Educators from buildings throughout the district presented more information on the kinds of instruction taking place at each level. Presentations covered the high school, middle school, and elementary levels. Presenters discussed the courses currently available to students, course highlights, and challenges. District lead library media specialist Emily Horn also presented to the committees about the district's work with digital wellness and information literacy.

In small group discussions, committee members were asked to discuss the strengths of the current K-12 programming, possible opportunities to increase student engagement and programming options that could be added in the future.

Following small group discussions, the groups were brought together to come up with ideas for what Lindbergh could do next. Ideas included mandatory computer science classes at the middle school level, cloud-based competitions, and high school level classes aimed at specific computer science careers.

The committee will meet again Jan. 22, 2023
