Finance Committee Update: Nov. 30, 2022
Nov. 30, 2022
During the November meeting of the Finance Board Advisory Committee, Chief Financial Officer Joel Scheible shared that October ending balances for operating funds look better than they have in several years thanks to an influx of federal funds over the last year, including ESSER III funds and federal food service revenue related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The committee also reviewed a $891,342 construction change order for BSI, to build out interior walls in the existing Lindbergh High School and install drywall. This will allow the existing building and new construction to have a similar look and feel. An industrial look was previously considered, but several of the existing interior walls have major wall damage that is beyond recovery following asbestos removal, and removal of built-in whiteboards and radiators. Current and future change orders on the BSI contract for the high school project will be funded by the one-time reimbursement dollars from ESSER III.
The Finance Advisory Committee exists to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in District finances. Committee members will discuss areas covered by the district’s fiscal management policies. In addition, the Board of Education will direct the specific responsibilities of the committee to review any matters potentially having a significant impact on district finances before the board takes action.
The next meeting is Dec. 13, 2022.
