Finance Committee Update: Aug. 16, 2022

Aug. 16, 2022

The Finance Board Advisory Committee held its first meeting of the 2022-23 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 16. The group opened with introductions for new members and Chief Financial Officer Joel Scheible provided an overview of the committee’s purpose and goals.

The school finance minute focused on pandemic relief funding, which totaled approximately $4 million overall. Lindbergh used the vast majority of this funding to keep school operational during the pandemic. This included hiring additional teachers and staff, and funding technology so every student would have access to a device for instruction.

The committee also reviewed finance related board agenda items for the month of August, which are available for public viewing on BoardDocs. These items include the Annual Secretary of the Board Report, which is the financial report submitted each year to the state of Missouri, and the 2022-23 tuition rate, which is $10,607 this year and is set in accordance with state law.

The Finance Advisory Committee exists to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in district finances. Committee members will discuss areas covered by the district’s fiscal management policies. In addition, the Board of Education will direct the specific responsibilities of the committee to review any matters potentially having a significant impact on district finances before the board takes action. The next meeting is Sept. 13, 2022.
