The School Opening Task Force had its second meeting of the 2021-22 school year Monday, Dec. 6. The group reviewed COVID-19 data for K-12 students from the first semester and discussed the Missouri court ruling regarding the legality of public health orders, and quarantine and isolation rules.

District lead nurse Jessica Franklin shared COVID-19 data with the task force, which included cumulative totals for K-12 students from the start of the school year through mid-November. This data was broken down into three categories:

  • Positive Cases with Contact in School
    • Elementary Schools: 33
    • Middle Schools: 27
    • High School: 25
  • Full Quarantine from School Exposure
    • Elementary Schools: 64
    • Middle Schools: 10
    • High School: 10
  • Modified Quarantine from School Exposure
    • Elementary Schools: 274
    • Middle Schools: 85
    • High School: 20

In addition, contact tracing has identified five positive cases of transmission in schools, and two classrooms temporarily closed due to potential exposure.

The task force also reviewed the Missouri Circuit Court ruling from Tuesday, Nov. 23 that lifts all public health orders regarding quarantine and isolation rules. This decision affects all school districts in St. Louis County. The group discussed how this ruling will impact Lindbergh students and staff. They also reviewed state statutes and board policies that specifically address health, safety and communicable diseases, and allow the district to exclude individuals from school if they have a contagious disease or are liable to transmit one.
