Longtime Lindbergh educator Dr. Christina Phillips will become the next head principal of Long Elementary School for the 2018-19 school year, effective July 1. The Lindbergh Schools Board of Education approved her hire on May 15. Dr. Phillips currently serves as administrative intern for Crestwood and Kennerly elementary schools.

Phillips began her teaching career 14 years ago in Maplewood Richmond Heights, before coming to Lindbergh in 2009 as an elementary school teacher. In 2014, she took on the role of mentor teacher and instructional coach at Kennerly, then became an assistant principal at Jefferson Intermediate School in St. Charles in 2016. Phillips returned to Lindbergh in 2017 in her current role as administrative intern, where she assists with teacher evaluations, student discipline, strategic planning, development of teacher learning, and communication.

“Lindbergh is where I grew into the leader I am today, and I look forward to continuing to build upon the energy and excitement that Dr. Parker has cultivated at Long,” Phillips said. “I can’t wait to meet all of the amazing students, teachers, staff and parents at Long.”

Phillips is a National Board Certified teacher in Literacy, Reading-Language Arts Early and Middle Childhood. She earned her bachelor of arts in communication and her master of arts in education-elementary education from Truman State University, and her doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University.

“In every position she has held, Dr. Phillips has demonstrated herself to be a caring, child-centered and skilled instructional leader,” said Dr. Brian McKenney, assistant superintendent of human resources. “We are confident she will carry on the strong tradition of excellence at Long Elementary School.”
