Sociocultural Competence
-
Students must complete an assignment in their World Language class that demonstrates their sociocultural competence, as well as demonstrate positive attitudes toward bilingualism and using both languages in a culturally appropriate way. This can include going on an exchange abroad, an abroad trip, an Interact trip, hosting an exchange student, attending and participating in an authentic cultural experience in St. Louis, being part of a language’s Honor Society, etc.
If a student has not completed an assignment that demonstrates sociocultural competence in their World Language class, then the student must complete an essay instead.
