Lindbergh Schools, State of Missouri Award 59 Students Seal of Biliteracy

Aug. 3, 2023

Lindbergh Schools and the State of Missouri are overjoyed to announce that they awarded 51 Seals of Biliteracy and 8 Distinguished Seals of Biliteracy to 59 graduating seniors in the Class of 2023. The students received Seals for demonstrating proficiency in Spanish, French, German, and Dutch.

Since 2018, Lindbergh Schools, along with the State of Missouri, has been awarding students who demonstrate proficiency in English and an additional language. In addition to scoring well on a language proficiency exam, a student must complete an assignment in their World Language class that displays their sociocultural competence, such as hosting an exchange student, going on an exchange trip, or participating in an authentic cultural experience in St. Louis.

The Seal of Biliteracy aims to help students learn diversity and provide them with 21st-century skills in a globalized economy and society. It also highlights biliteracy and/or bilingualism for future employers. Distinguished Seals of Biliteracy denote that a student scored the highest possible score on a language proficiency exam.

These students’ high school transcripts have been edited to include the Seal, and they have received certificates recognizing their achievements. Students may be able to earn up to 14 credit hours, depending on the Missouri university they choose.
