Students in Lindbergh High School’s 70th graduating class were awarded more than $21.5 million in scholarships this year, Principal Dr. Eric Cochran said during the school’s Class of 2023 graduation ceremony, May 30 at Chaifetz Arena. Of the 555 graduates, 72.9  percent plan to attend college, 4.5 percent plan to enroll in schools of advanced training, 0.3 percent plan to serve in the military, 16.5 percent plan to enter the workforce, and 5.6 percent are planning a gap year.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tony Lake reflected not simply on the adversity that this group of graduating students had to endure during their time at LHS, but rather how these experiences will prepare the Class of 2023 for future success.

“The past four years have equipped these graduates with unmatched resilience, flexibility, and appreciation for opportunities that students before them may have taken for granted,” Lake said. “Over the past four years, we have been proud to watch your class grow in strength, positivity and adaptability. These qualities will translate to future success in college, work and life.”

In addition, senior speakers Olivia Sulkin and Grace Herzog shared words of inspiration and thanks.

"Growth mindset is the willingness to overcome any challenge," Sulkin said as she shared her personal story of perseverance, and how Lindbergh teachers and staff have supported her in her educational journey. Herzog reflected on the stories she shared as a student journalist and prompted her classmates to ask themselves, "What is our story?"

Once again this year, LHS was ranked among America’s best high schools by U.S. News and World Report – and with good reason. In this year’s class, 333 students were awarded scholarships, among those 52 Missouri Bright Flight Scholarships; 21 athletic scholarships; 94 A+ scholarships and 12 music, theater and arts scholarships.

The Class of 2023 also includes six National Merit Finalists, six National Merit Semifinalists, four National Merit Commended Students and two International Baccalaureate Diploma candidates.
