Middle School Will Move to Phase 2 on Monday, Oct. 5
Sept. 24, 2020
Dear Lindbergh Families,
Lindbergh Schools will return middle school students to Phase 2 in-person learning beginning next month. This decision is based on our continued monitoring of COVID-19 data in our school district and St. Louis County as a whole, and the successful re-entry of elementary students over the past several weeks. Lindbergh Schools has been closely monitoring COVID-19 data on a daily basis, specifically the number of new cases per 100,000 individuals, transmission rate and positivity rate.
Sixth grade students will return first, on Tuesday, Oct. 6 (Group A), and Wednesday, Oct. 7 (Group B). Then, seventh and eighth grade students will have their first days of in-person learning on Thursday, Oct. 8 (Group A), and Friday, Oct. 9 (Group B). The SIS Portal student dashboard will show you whether your student is in Group A attendance or Group B.
Schedule Change, Effective Monday, Oct. 5
Please note that the middle school schedule will change for ALL students in grades 6-8, beginning Monday, Oct. 5. Families will receive a detailed Phase 2 schedule next week. Mondays will continue to be virtual learning days for all students. On Tuesdays through Fridays, school will begin at 7:40 a.m. and dismiss at 2:40 p.m. each day. This includes Phase 2 and ARC, and applies to both in-person and virtual instruction.
Please read this email in its entirety for several important updates and reminders. In addition, your principal will follow up early next week with more specific schedule information and school-specific details, to support your student’s successful transition back to in-person learning.

Student Transportation: Signup Required
Families are required to sign up for bus service for each student. If you have any questions about your student’s transportation status, please contact your school secretary.
Bus information for the 2020-21 school year can be viewed in the SIS Portal. To view bus stop details, look under the Daily Student Activity menu, and click Transportation. This section includes bus stop location, bus number, and pickup and drop-off times.
FirstView Bus Information App
Lindbergh uses the FirstView app to communicate bus information with families in real time, including your student’s pickup and drop-off times, and any delays or notifications. To set up the FirstView app, you will need your student’s 10-digit ID number, which is available in the Student Details section of the SIS Portal.
Family To-Do: Daily Health Screening
All staff and students must complete the following screening before coming to school or work. This check is to assure that individuals have not experienced one of the following symptoms within the last 14 days:
- A fever (100.4 or higher)
- Sore throat
- Congestion/runny nose
- Headache
- Nausea/vomiting/diarrhea
- Body aches
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Loss of taste/smell
- or if they or a close contact has been diagnosed or presumptively diagnosed with COVID-19.
Students and staff must stay home from school if they are sick, or if they answer “yes” to any of these items.
Family To-Do: Face Coverings Required
All staff and students in grades K-12 must wear a face covering while at school, and on the bus. We recommend packing an extra face covering in your student’s backpack as well.
Face coverings must be worn outdoors when social distancing is not possible, but are not required to be worn during periods of physical exertion.
Please note that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend use of masks or cloth masks with an exhalation valve or vent.
Green Light Phase Information
Lindbergh’s three-phase Green Light Plan provides an overview of the steps our district is taking to reduce the number of students in classrooms and promote social distancing to the best of our ability. Creating a safe, healthy environment for Lindbergh students and staff is our shared responsibility, and Lindbergh Schools is dedicated to leading the way with a strong plan, dedicated resources and personnel, and a commitment to community involvement.
Remember, phases can continue to change throughout the school year. We promise to communicate regularly and provide our families with updates. Our current Phase(s) of operation will always be listed on our district homepage. In addition, we will use email, text messages and phone calls to communicate with our families and staff.
It is important to understand that these precautions will not necessarily eliminate COVID-19 from our learning environments. What they are doing is helping us mitigate risk while allowing students to return to school. We are committed to doing our part in this shared responsibility to ensure all of our students and staff have a safe and healthy place to learn.
Our Shared Responsibility
We must work together as a fully engaged community of teachers, staff, students and families to ensure a successful start for all. Collectively, we can support a safe learning environment, and promote social-emotional wellbeing for our children and community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tony Lake
Superintendent of Schools
