Virtual Learning Will Continue Through May 21

April 9, 2020

Dear Lindbergh Families,

Lindbergh Schools, in cooperation with all St. Louis area school districts, is extending virtual learning for students through May 21. This date will be the last scheduled day of school for the 2019-20 school year. This collective, areawide decision follows recommendations from local health departments and was made in collaboration with government officials. We will continue to follow their guidance as we make decisions with thoughtful consideration for the health of students, families and staff in our community.

Over the past several weeks, St. Louis area school superintendents have been in frequent communication with one another and with our local health department. During this rapidly changing situation, we will continue to follow the guidance of local experts, in addition to CDC recommendations. Most importantly, we will continue regular communication to ensure we are meeting the needs of all students and families.

It is essential during this time that our entire community follows the stay-at-home orders put in place by our county and state elected officials and observe social distancing guidance. All of us must work together to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Virtual Learning Survey

As we continue virtual learning in Lindbergh for the foreseeable future, it's essential that we work together with our families to find the right balance of home and school life. We are inviting families to complete a short survey about your student’s virtual learning experience to date, in order to help us support learning in the home as we look ahead toward the end of this school year. Please fill out one survey for each student in your household who attends Lindbergh Schools. The survey will remain open until Tuesday, April 14.

Meal Distribution Schedule Changes

Lindbergh Schools is providing free curbside to-go meals for students who are in need of food assistance on days when school is scheduled to be in session. This Friday, April 10, and Monday, April 13, are scheduled days off for students. As a result, to-go meals will not be served on these days.

Meals will be served every day, April 14-17. Beginning Monday, April 20, meal distribution will shift to an every other day, Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule. Families will receive two breakfast meals and two lunch meals per student on each distribution date.

Families must sign up using the link below in order to reserve student meals. If you have already signed up for meals, you do not have to fill out the form again.

Building Access for Students and Staff

Missouri currently has a stay-at-home order in effect through April 24. During that time, Lindbergh buildings are closed to all students and staff, with the exception of permitted essential employees. We will update families and employees later this month with more information about building access procedures to pick up belongings prior to summer vacation.

Lindbergh Schools Family Helpline

Lindbergh Schools has established a helpline that is monitored daily to respond to family needs. Please call 314-729-2448, or email covidhelp@lindberghschools.ws, and a member of our team will respond to you within 24 hours (8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday). You can also visit our COVID-19 website for all district updates and information.

I know extending virtual learning through the end of the school year brings many questions, and also many emotions. We will continue to communicate with you often, and provide updates as information is available.

Thank you once again for your support and partnership as we work to continue making decisions in the best interest of our students, families and staff.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tony Lake
Superintendent
