District Approves New School Resource Officer from Crestwood Police Department

July 29, 2024

Lindbergh Schools and the Crestwood Police Department are partnering together to add a new school resource officer to improve school safety and security within the district for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. At the June 27 Lindbergh Schools Board of Education Meeting, Kay Blase was officially hired as the third school resource officer for Lindbergh.

“Kay will bring a unique perspective and skill set to the role, which will enhance the overall safety and well-being of the school environment,” Lindbergh Schools Director of Safety and Security Randy Jemerson said.  “Kay will serve as a strong role model, provide support to the school community, address student issues, and build positive relationships with students and staff.”

Blase, the first SRO from the Crestwood Police Department, joins St. Louis County Police Officers Amanda Hloben and Austin Holtzmann. Blase will be assigned to Truman Middle School, Crestwood Elementary School, Long Elementary School, and Sappington Elementary School. Holtzmann will cover Sperreng Middle School, Concord Elementary School, Dressel Elementary School, and Kennerly Elementary School. Hloben will continue to serve at Lindbergh High School and Lindbergh Early Childhood Education Center.

"We are very excited to partner with the school district to ensure students can focus on learning in the safest environment possible," Crestwood Police Chief Jonathan Williams said. "This is a wonderful opportunity to not only increase safety and security within our schools but also grow the department's already strong bond with the community. Officer Blase will thrive in this position, and she is excited to start her new role."

Blase has served as a police officer with the Crestwood Police Department since 2021, patrolling the Crestwood area and covering events such as the SunCrest Festival.

Blase will receive specialized training for SROs this summer and has already attended several school safety conferences. She will begin her new assignment on Aug. 1 and, when school is not in session, will work with Crestwood Police Department's Community Police Unit.
