Lindbergh Schools is receiving approximately $3.8 million in federal relief funding to offset costs related to providing education during the COVID-19 pandemic. This portion of the $1.9 billion distributed to Missouri public schools ranks Lindbergh’s allocation in the bottom 10 of school districts statewide.

In February 2022, the Missouri General Assembly passed and Gov. Mike Parson signed into law House Bill 3014.  This early supplemental budget bill includes 90 percent of Missouri’s American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) allocation to school district — a total of $1.9 billion. 

Lindbergh’s American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds will be used almost exclusively to reimburse the district for expenditures related to COVID-19. This includes staffing, transportation, summer school, and technology devices to support students and programming during the pandemic.

Expenditures during the eligible timeframe (March 13, 2020-Sept. 30, 2024) include:

ESSER 1 - Allocated in April 2020

• $176,688 Funded the following items: 
• Newsela online educational content provider
• IXL online learning platform 
• Zoom licenses to support virtual learning for teachers and students 
• Securely platform to protect student safety online 
• Zoom license to host board meetings 
• Misc CoVID cleaning and sanitation supplies

ESSER II - Allocated in February 2021, received July 2021

• $1,080,000
• Reimbursement for additional COVID staff to support successful in-person and virtual learning environments for students during the 2020-21 school year

Teacher Recruitment and Retention Grant

Allocated May 2021, received 2021-22 school year

• $229,000
• The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education designated more than $50 million in state reserve funds from the ESSER Fund to establish a Teacher Recruitment and Retention grant program. This program will support teacher recruitment and retention efforts over the next three school years.
• Lindbergh used this money to support teacher professional learning and develop a Grow Your Own teacher program.

ESSER III - Allocated in May 2021, not yet received

• $2,397,704
• Continued virtual instruction for students by request for 2021-2022 school year
• Apple devices for students in grades 3-8 
• Provide transportation for students attending summer school
