Important Summer Programming Information
May 13, 2020
Dear Lindbergh Families,
As we approach the end of the school year, we know that many families are doing their best to plan ahead for summer. Understandably, this summer will look a lot different than others. As we continue to follow guidance from our local health department, St. Louis County school districts are collectively making the difficult decision to postpone any in-person school, childcare or activities until at least July 1. We understand this creates a hardship for some families, and we appreciate your understanding and patience during this unprecedented time, as we seek to keep our students, staff and community safe and healthy.
Please read on for important information about summer programming in Lindbergh, including:

- Pickup of Belongings from School: A separate email will be sent regarding pickup of personal items following the last day of school. Please watch for that information next week.

Early Childhood Education
Lindbergh Early Childhood Education will remain closed throughout the month of June, and we will evaluate plans to open in July at a later date. We know that full-day childcare is essential for working families, and we are sincerely grateful for your patience. Please know that with every decision St. Louis County school districts make, our collective goal is to protect the health and wellness of everyone in our community.
Flyers Club Summer Camp
Flyers Club Summer Camp offers full-day summer child care for students in grades K-5. Flyers Club will not be offered in June, and we will evaluate plans to reopen in July at a later date. Although a start date for Flyers Club has not been determined at this time, families are encouraged to enroll if they are planning to attend.
Summer Camps, Activities and Athletics
Camps and activities scheduled to take place in June will be canceled, postponed or offered in a virtual format. Please look for additional communication from sponsor organizations. This includes any programming that takes place on a Lindbergh campus, including but not limited to Lindbergh Schools, Lindbergh Community Ed and Rec, and LHS athletic camps. Additional updates about LHS summer athletic practices will be shared later this summer.
The district has closed all registrations and payments for camps at this time. If you have already registered your child for a summer activity that is scheduled to take place in June, we will refund any deposits or payments in the event of cancellation.
Meal Service
Lindbergh Schools, in cooperation with Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE), will continue distributing free breakfast and lunch to any students in need of meal assistance throughout the month of June. Families can sign up to pick up meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, and each meal package includes two lunches and two breakfasts for each student in the family.
- If you have already signed up for meals, no action is required to continue.
- To sign up for meals, please fill out the online request form. Please fill out a separate form for each student.
- If your need changes or you no longer need meals, please let us know. Families who have any changes in need, or those who no longer need meal assistance, should email covidhelp@lindberghschools.ws, or call 314-729-2448.
LHS Graduation
Lindbergh High School graduation is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at Chaifetz Arena. We are working closely with Chaifetz to plan for appropriate social distancing during the ceremony, and will continue to follow guidance from the St. Louis County Department of Health as we monitor our city and county recommendations.
School Re-Entry Task Force
The safety of our school community is our top priority. We are currently creating a task force of parents, teachers, students, administrators and medical professionals to discuss specific concerns related to returning to school and protecting student health and safety. Next week, all Lindbergh families and staff will receive a survey to help us gather data and collect information to guide the task force’s decisions. The task force will develop a plan for the 2020-21 school year, which will be shared with the entire community for feedback later this summer.
We are here to help.
Lindbergh Schools has established a helpline that is monitored daily to respond to family needs during this closure. Please call 314-729-2448 or email covidhelp@lindberghschools.ws, and a member of our team will respond to you within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).
We know that planning for summer is a priority for our families, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make decisions that are in the best interest of our entire community’s health and wellbeing.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tony Lake
Superintendent
