The Rotary Club of Crestwood-Sunset Hills recently honored Lindbergh High School sophomore Megan Martin as Student of the Month for November. She is a member of the LHS Student Leadership Team for Character Education, is a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, belongs to the Green Machine Spirit Club, is sophomore class vice president, serves as a counselor with Kids of Victory Christian Camps, and is a ZAP Leader with Southgate Church in Crestwood. She also participates in varsity basketball and track. Megan plans to pursue studies in either engineering or dental after high school.
Concord Counselor Named Educator of Month
The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Kiwanis Club recently named Concord Elementary School Counselor Velina Critchlow the November Educator of the Month. Critchlow has been an educator for more than 28 years, 18 of them in Lindbergh.
“Her ability to relate to students and families, and her knowledge and background make her an excellent resource to the community,” said Kiwanis member Mary Meyer.
‘Do the Right Thing’ Honors Sperreng Student
Sperreng Middle School sixth grade student Parker Koenig was recognized in November by Do the Right Thing of Greater St. Louis. Parker was nominated for showing extraordinary compassion to his classmates, making sure everyone is included and has a friend.
“Middle school students often get classified as only worrying about themselves but this does not seem to be the case with Parker,” school counselor Tina Christanell wrote in his nomination. “Congratulations, Parker! Sperreng is proud of you!”
Kiwanis Honors Student of the Month
The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Kiwanis Club recently named Lindbergh High School senior Beth Ortwerth the November Student of the Month. Beth is better known to LHS fans as Lucky Lindy, the Lindbergh Flyers official mascot! Her teachers praise her strong work ethic, positive attitude and respect for others, said Class of 2017 school counselor Dr. Jon Riethmeier. She is a four-year member of the tennis team and has been involved in Tri-M Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. She plans to study political science and communications in college.
