LHS Band Hosts 10th Musicthon to Benefit Cancer Research
March 30, 2023
Lindbergh High School band members will perform for 36 straight music-filled hours March 31-April 1, all to raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand and honor a young band buddy who passed away in 2014 following a brave battle with cancer.
Since 2014, the LHS Musicthon has generated more than $30,000 to fund childhood cancer research and assist families of children with cancer. The ninth annual LHS Musicthon will run from 7 a.m. Friday, March 31, through 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Lindbergh High School, 5000 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
All of the music will be played live in the LHS commons. A stage with decorations will be set up by the students, with food available for purchase. In addition to live performances, band alumni and current students will have the opportunity to perform virtually. Those videos and livestreamed performances will be shared on a video screen at the high school. The livestream can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGsYB_pvTF0.
Community members are invited to support this student-organized effort by donating on a dedicated Alex’s Lemonade Stand fundraising site, which can be accessed at https://www.alexslemonade.org/mypage/3259663.

LHS Musicthon Background
Bandstanders, the booster group for the LHS Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, is raising money in honor of a young man named Alex, who the band members met during Sunday Night Lights in 2012. Sunday Night Lights is an annual event that provides a high school football game experience for children with cancer. Alex was an amazing and brave young man who passed away in January 2014 after a three-year battle with cancer.
Alex’s family has requested donations and memorials to be made to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. This is a foundation started by a young girl, also named Alex, who wanted to help cure childhood cancer by selling lemonade. When she lost her battle to cancer, her parents started this foundation to honor her memory. ALSF helps fund childhood cancer research as well as assisting families with travel needs during treatment.
