LHS Technology Students Place Third in State
June 5, 2018
Lindbergh High School students Mitch Hughes, 9; Justine Gacho, 10; Mohanad Alameer, 10; and Tanner Schroeder, 10; placed third at the Missouri Technology Student Association VEX robot competition on April 23, at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The Technology Student Association is a club where students can sign up to compete in more than 70 events, including 3D printing, lasers and robotics.
This year, Lindbergh’s TSA built and programmed six robots in all, and took the best design to competition. The students completed a challenge with their robot to stack cones on a mobile goal, and move cones into a designated scoring area.
In the VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, teams of students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more.
Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.
