Alumni Celebrate at Annual Awards Banquet

Lindbergh High School honored Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Educators and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees at the LHS Alumni Association’s annual Alumni Awards Banquet, Wednesday, Sept. 13.
This year’s honorees include:
- Distinguished Educators
- Scott Taylor, retired Crestwood Elementary School principal
- Mary Louise Zieger, Ph.D., retired teacher at Sappington and Long elementary schools, administrative assistant at The Middle School, and assistant principal at Sperreng Middle School
- Robert Zink, retired elementary and middle school music teacher
- Distinguished Alumni
- Charlie E. Bean, Class of 1988 – Dropout Recruiter, St. Louis Public Schools and Athletic Director for Carnahan School
- Nancy Czaicki, Ph.D., Class of 2004 – research scientist and humanitarian, Centre for Infectious Disease Research (honored posthumously)
- Charlie A Miller, Ph.D., Class of 1991 – nationally renowned computer hacker for the National Security Agency and consultant
- Joan Weiland Nowicke, Ph.D., Class of 1954 – internationally renowned palynologist, Smithsonian Institution
- Antwaun Steele, Class of 1989 – entertainer in Sesame Street’s worldwide USO tour, Barney live, and several national TV appearances
- Athletic Hall of Fame
- David Bender, Class of 1973 – Cross Country
- Gary Carlstrom, Class of 1969 – Football
- Sam Lape, Class of 2004 – Water Polo
- Terrance Weeden, Class of 1992 – Track
All proceeds from the event will benefit LHS Alumni Association, which supports scholarships for deserving college-bound seniors.
