Kiwanis Honors Student of the Month
The Kiwanis Club of Crestwood-Sunset Hills recently honored Lindbergh High School senior Grace Nelson as Student of the Month. President Mark Menning (left) and LHS college and career counselor Kate Keegan (right) said Grace has earned good grades while taking difficult courses and being involved in school. She is a member of Student Council, CHADS, Character Council, and Model UN and has been involved with the Megan Meier Foundation.
“Grace has fantastic school spirit and always takes part in whatever activities are going on,” Keegan said.
Optimist Club Honors Two LHS Seniors
Chamber Honors LHS Senior
The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce recently recognized Lindbergh High School Senior Emily Bray as Student of the Month for November. Lindbergh Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim Simpson presented the award.
“Emily is the epitome of a well-rounded student,” Simpson said. “She excels in academics, is involved in many extracurricular activities, and volunteers outside of school.”
In 2015, Emily was crowned Miss High School USA 2015. The Miss High School USA Pageant emphasizes gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. As Miss High School USA, Emily has made numerous appearances across Missouri speaking to groups about the detrimental effects of bullying and providing tips and tools for students to stand up to bullying.
In addition, Emily has earned a 3.75 GPA, she is active in Student Council and the Elite Athlete Club, she is a Renaissance Award recipient, and she is an advocate for Friends of Kids with Cancer and the Jason Motte Foundation to Strike Out Cancer.

Grace has been accepted at the University of Missouri-Columbia and the University of Nebraska, and plans to major in political science and pre law.
Optimist Club Honors Two LHS Seniors
Lindbergh High School seniors Kyle Gibbs and Maddie Lake were recognized for excellence in leadership, academics and citizenship during the Mehlville Optimist Club's Youth Appreciation Celebration on Nov. 4. Kyle was recognized for his academic success and involvement in many extracurricular and service activities. In addition to playing soccer and basketball, Kyle is a National Merit Semifinalist and an Eagle Scout. Maddie was honored for forming a new all-inclusive dance team at LHS called the Shining Stars. As captain of the LHS Flyerettes, Maddie’s efforts have helped several LHS students get involved in a team that previously did not exist. This year’s event was the Optimist Club’s 55th annual Youth Appreciation Celebration.

Emily would like to attend the University of Florida, University of Central Florida or University of Mississippi, and hopes to become a sports journalist.
Builders Club Honors First Quarter Hawkins Winners
Lindbergh’s middle school Builders Club recently honored Truman eighth-grader Charlotte Lorenz and Sperreng eighth-grader Amelia Stone with the first quarter Hawkins Award for outstanding service to their fellow students and teachers. Teachers nominate students for the award, which is presented each quarter in memory of former Lindbergh board member and long-time Kiwanis member Ted Hawkins, who spent a lifetime in community service.
