Grace Sanders, a fourth-grader at Sappington Elementary School, has found a unique way to help local animals in need. Grace has been unable to have a pet of her own due to allergies, so she came up with a plan to collect blankets, sheets and towels from her neighbors and family members to help make shelter animals as comfortable as possible until they find a forever home. While her greatest reward has been helping animals feel loved and cared for, she received another surprise recently that was almost as good. Grace’s doctor gave her the go-ahead to have a pet of her own. Now she loves spending time with her 4-year-old rescue dog, Zoey the Chihuahua!
