Student Life Committee Update: Oct. 14, 2021
Oct. 14, 2021
The Student Life Board Advisory Committee held its second meeting of the 2021-22 school year Thursday, Oct. 14. The group's main focus during the meeting was digital wellness and how it affects the lives of students.
Committee members discussed how the district can help families and students manage technology use. This includes social media use at home. Some parents expressed an interest in learning more about how they can protect their student’s social media use and guard against potential online bullying. The conversation delved into many applications that parents are aware of, and that Lindbergh uses, such as Google and Securely.
Members mentioned that there was a Speaker Series webinar about online safety titled 'Staying Safe Online: A Guide for Families' that was hosted by the district's technology department. All Speaker Series webinars are available on the Lindbergh Schools YouTube channel.
The beginning of the meeting started with a presentation about Lindbergh High School Athletics by Athletic Director Scott Luczak, and an overview presentation of Community Education and Recreation conducted by Community Programs Director Jason Knittig. Both presenters discussed the activities offered by each program, as well as COVID-19 protocols.
The committee's next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 11.
