Finance Committee Update: Aug. 17, 2021

Aug. 18, 2021

During the first meeting of the year, Chief Financial Officer Joël Cracchiolo introduced new committee members and showed the group how to review monthly finance information on BoardDocs.

The committee discussed the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funds that Lindbergh Schools received and how they were spent. ESSER funds are being distributed to school districts in three phases. District allocations are based on the percentage of students in a district who qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program.

Lindbergh has been allocated $176,688 in ESSER I funds, $1.08 million in ESSER II funds, $229,000 in a Teacher Recruitment and Retention grant, and $2.39 million in ESSER III funds, which is one of the lower allocations among Missouri school districts.

Lindbergh is using ESSER funds for COVID-related expenses, including student technology to support at-home learning during the 2020-21 school year, expansion of the district's summer school program and hiring of one-year-only additional staff, such as teachers, building assistants and nurses.

The committee also reviewed monthly board agenda items, including payroll; bids, quotations, agreements and grant applications; budget adjustments and fund transfers; surplus items; public gifts to schools; contracts; the 2021-22 tuition rate; Lindbergh's Annual Secretary of the Board Report, and review of board policy DJF-2.
