May 8, 2015
Lindbergh Schools is pleased to announce that Lindbergh High School social studies teacher Veronica Zagora has been named director of curriculum and student programs.
As director of curriculum and student programs, Zagora will oversee development and revision of high school curriculum and instruction, coordinate district discipline review and district safety and security programs, and analyze student test data districtwide, among various other responsibilities.
Zagora began her teaching career at LHS in 2006, and has served as department chair for the social studies department for the past three years. In that position, she leads curriculum development for 14 high school social studies courses and analyzes data to improve student achievement. She also served on the application committee that resulted in LHS’ 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. Zagora has also served on Lindbergh’s Vertical Team, which is responsible for connecting all curriculum in grades K-12 to help students learn consistently and efficiently districtwide.
Zagora was named LHS National Honor Society Teacher of the Year in 2014 and received the LHS Teacher Recognition Program Knowledge Award from her colleagues in 2012. She serves as a trustee on the Kirkwood Public Library board and is a member of both the National Council for the Social Studies and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In 2011, Zagora wrote an article about integrating writing skills in social studies classrooms, which was featured in the national journal “Social Education.”
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in international studies, and Spanish and Latin American studies, from American University in Washington, DC; and her master of arts in teaching from Washington University. Zagora is currently pursuing her doctorate at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
