May 15, 2019
The Lindbergh Schools Board of Education recently took an important step in its commitment to provide a safe, secure educational environment for all students, staff and families. On May 14, the board approved the hire of Terrell Baker as the district’s first dedicated Safety and Security Coordinator.
One of the district’s five-year strategic goals is to provide safe, secure and innovative district campuses. In this new position, Baker will coordinate procedures to ensure student safety and security, emergency preparedness and crisis response. He will oversee the district’s security officers and work closely with both St. Louis County Police School Resource Officers.
Baker’s work also will support the safety and infrastructure improvements that the community supported by approving the April 2019 Prop R bond issue.
"The safety of our students and staff is our top priority," said Superintendent Dr. Tony Lake. "Creating a position that coordinates and supports emergency preparedness, crisis planning and security directly supports this essential goal and benefits our entire Lindbergh community."
Baker is a decorated military veteran who served in the United States Navy for 20 years and specialized in military police, force protection and anti-terrorism. He currently works for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. As a chief petty officer in the Navy, Baker managed law enforcement, physical security and force protection programs for more than 107 civilians, security forces and staff. He coordinated training and anti-terrorism plans for his base. In addition, Baker has developed anti-terrorism training scenarios, delivered group instruction, and coordinated certification of unit level personnel.
Baker earned his Master of Science in Business Organization and Security Management from Webster University, in addition to a certification in cybersecurity and project management, and Cyber Security Threat Detection. He is a certified federal police officer, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from University of Phoenix.
