Community Groups Honor Exceptional Students

Crestwood-Sunset Hills Chamber Honors Lindbergh Student of the Month
The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Area Chamber of Commerce recently honored Lindbergh High School senior Mike Mullins as student of the month for January. Mike ranks in the top 95 percent of his graduating class and is dual enrolled at St. Louis Community College, taking nine hours of college courses this semester. As president of the Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, Mullins marched alongside his peers this January in the 2018 Rose Parade, in Pasadena, Calif. The percussionist has served as a section leader for the past three years. He has earned first chair in the All-State Jazz Band twice and even provides private drum lessons to students in the area. Following graduation, Mike plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field.
Kiwanis Club Honors Lindbergh Student of the Month
The Kiwanis Club of Crestwood-Sunset Hills recently honored Lindbergh High School senior Liz Schrader as student of the month for January. Liz has earned an above 4.0 grade point average while taking challenging courses and finding time for extracurricular activities. She has served on the Spirit Yearbook staff for three years and this year is editor-in-chief. Liz was a Missouri Journalism Education Association 2017 News Photo of the Year finalist, and she participates in LHS choir and All-Suburban Honor Choir. Outside of school, Liz has participated in three mission trips with her church. Next year, she plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and major in journalism.
Rotary Honors Lindbergh Student of the Month
The Crestwood-Sunset Hills Rotary Club recently honored Lindbergh High School junior Isabella Feltenstein as student of the month for January. LHS staff and students identify Isabella as a wonderful asset to the Lindbergh community. She is compassionate and dedicated to improving climate and culture for all, according to Mareen Reed, Character Education team leader at LHS. Recently, Isabella helped spearhead the You Matter Mission, creating videos and plans for PAC student advisory groups, with a goal of creating a community where every student feels respected and valued by his or her peers. In addition, Isabella and the LHS Character Lab team wrote a successful grant to the Lindbergh Foundation, which will fund a dance for special needs students. Isabella is a member of National Honor Society, soccer, cross country and the Random Acts of Kindness Tribe. She looks forward to studying chemical engineering in college, with a goal of addressing global warming.
Crestwood Elks Honor Dressel Students
Mike Woods from the Crestwood Elks recently recognized Dressel Elementary School students Samantha Linton and John Eckrich as students of the month for January. Both students serve as Dressel Ambassadors and take a leadership role by welcoming new families and students to their school.
“They are great examples of student leaders at Dressel,” said Assistant Principal Dr. Patrick Schoenekase.
