Lindbergh High School is hosting the 13th annual Sunday Night Lights on Oct. 9, 2022 at 5:15 p.m. Unique to the Lindbergh district, Sunday Night Lights recreates a high school football game experience for children who are battling cancer and other serious childhood illnesses.

The event is free for all participants and their families and includes a fun carnival, food, and a flag football game. Sunday Night Lights heroes choose their role in the football experience, and each participant is individually announced to enjoy a memorable night as a flag football star, cheerleader, Flyerette, or Marching Band member.

Sunday Night Lights was founded in 2010 after a Lindbergh football player's dream of playing varsity football “under the lights” was lost to cancer. Lori Krueger, the founder of Sunday Night Lights, stated that “Since 2010, our “why” hasn’t changed…we are committed to creating smiles and making sure this is a wonderful, memorable event for our SNL Heroes! It is always our hope and prayer that the football stadium will be filled to overflowing for our Sunday Night Light heroes, with Lindbergh students of all ages, alumni, and community members who will come out to show their love and support for these young children, their siblings, and families who are battling unimaginable health issues.“

Sunday Night Lights gives the Lindbergh student body the opportunity to come together and support kids fighting for their health. More than 30 student groups and community organizations throughout the district join forces to bring the event to life. Lindbergh High School football players, cheerleaders, Flyerettes, and marching band members work with the hero participants as Buddies, escorting each child through the event and personally making sure they enjoy their time and feel the love and support of the Lindbergh community. Lindbergh High School teacher Sarah Pincus loves seeing the connections made between the Lindbergh students and the heroes. “My favorite part of Sunday Night Lights is watching our students interact with their young hero buddies. It is so heartwarming to see that genuine care and concern from our high schoolers and to see the huge smiles on the faces of our heroes!”  

Registration for hero participants is still open on snlheroes.org through October 9th. Community members are encouraged to join the fun and fill the stands at Lindbergh High School starting at 5:15 p.m. to show spirit and support for these special children, their siblings, and their families. Admission is free, and concession stands are available.
