Board Approves 2020-21 District Calendar
Oct. 11, 2019
The Lindbergh Schools Board of Education voted during its October meeting to approve the 2020-21 district calendar. The first day of the 2020-21 school year is set for Monday, Aug. 24, 2020.
A new Missouri law requires public schools to start no sooner than 14 calendar days before the first Monday in September. The previous law allowed districts to start 18 calendar days before that date.
Each year, a committee of parents, teachers and administrators meet to develop the calendar before submitting it to the board for final approval. The 2020-21 calendar includes 173 school days, with the last day of school scheduled for Friday, May 28, 2021.
School years are now counted in hours instead of days, which gives districts more flexibility in how they manage inclement weather days. The 2020-21 calendar includes six emergency makeup days, which means the school year will only be extended if students miss more than six days of school due to inclement weather.
