School Opening Task Force Update: June 24, 2021
June 24, 2021
This week, the Lindbergh Schools School Opening Task Force met to review current COVID-19 data and recommendations, and provide input to district leadership as we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are expected to update their K-12 school operations guidance in the coming weeks based on the most recent science and data surrounding COVID-19, and district administration and task force members will closely review these changes as well.
An important part of this process is hearing from our community. Earlier this month, we invited families, students and staff to share their preferences regarding face coverings in school, given current CDC and St. Louis County guidance for K-12 schools. Please be mindful that recommendations can and probably will change in the coming weeks, and the district will remain flexible in order to make decisions in the best interest of students, staff and our community.
Please complete the feedback form below on or before Friday, July 16, so we can share your thoughts and questions with the task force during its July meeting.
The School Opening Task Force includes more than 50 parents, staff members, students and medical professionals. During its first meeting, the task force listened to an update on COVID-19, children and K-12 schools from Lindbergh parent and pediatrician Dr. Rachel Charney, who is a member of the St. Louis Pandemic Task Force’s education subcommittee. They also reviewed Lindbergh’s 2020-21 school year quarantine data and vaccination numbers for staff and students. This group will meet again next month, and the district plans to share a revised Green Light School Operations Plan with the community by the last week in July.
