Sappington Presents Civil War Wax Museum
February 26, 2018
Famous Civil War figures were on display Feb. 23 at Sappington Elementary School, as fifth-grade students presented a living wax museum, “A Spotlight on History.”
Julie Dent Grant and Mary Todd Lincoln rubbed elbows at their side-by-side exhibits, while George Washington, PT Barnum and Lucretia Mott stood nearby and spoke about their famous roles as president, entertainer and abolitionist, respectively.
In all, more than 30 students dressed up as famous presidents, first ladies, abolitionists, outlaws, entertainers, daughters of liberty, authors, scientists and military figures. In addition to dressing the part, students spoke in character as they presented to visiting parents and classmates. They also created visual displays to share information about what they learned.
