The Sperreng Robotics Club sponsors the Engineers Version 3.0 team, LEGO Pros, Lugnuts and Penguins. All four teams participated in the FIRST LEGO League qualifiers on Nov. 14, where they had to present a researched and original solution to a problem, design and program a robot to complete specified tasks, and demonstrate the FLL Core Values. Close to 50 teams competed from around the area, and special awards were given to the Engineers Version 3.0 and LEGO Pros for Core Values, and the Lugnuts for Project and Global Innovation (nomination). The Sperreng teams are sponsored by Angela Rathjen and Eric Robb.
Sappington Elementary School is excited to announce its first ever Robotics Club, the Energy Kids (second and third grade) and the Dashers (fourth and fifth grade). For the teams’ first competition, both teams had to program Dash the Robot for seven different missions, and submit a video of their work to the judges by Dec. 1. Teams from around the nation use Dash and Dot robots to overcome obstacles, solve coding challenges and have fun.

Students across the district have been successfully teaming up to design, program and build robots that solve problems and compete with other schools. Did we mention that each team has a name more creative than the next?

At Kennerly Elementary School, the fourth and fifth grade students competed in the FIRST LEGO League meet at Brittany Woods Middle School Nov. 8.
