Lindbergh Students Go Bald for a Great Cause
April 13, 2015
Students at Lindbergh have been losing their hair for a great cause, in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a national charity that benefits children’s cancer research.
At Lindbergh High School, 25 shavees raised $5,913 for St. Baldrick’s during the district’s annual fundraising event on March 27. Individual shavees leading the charge included Kennerly Elementary School students Aubrey Bashwiner, who raised $1,000 on her own, and brothers Brock, Chase and Andrew Barger, who raised more than $1,100 collectively.
In addition, Kennerly hosted a crazy hair day prior to the event to raise $235 in support of all the students who shaved, and fourth-grader Garrett Gyuriseck raised $1,096 in February during an event at House Springs Elementary School. This is the third year in a row Garrett shaved to raise money for the foundation.
At Long Elementary School, fourth-grade students Jamieson Plager, Kate Jackson and Delaney Barclay together raised almost $10,000 for St. Baldrick’s when they participated in the St. Louis area’s annual event on March 8 at Helen Fitzgerald’s. Jamieson was the top female fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s that day, earning more than $6,000!
