ECE Teacher Nominated for Emerging Leader in Education
Lindbergh Early Childhood Education teacher Jeanne Shay has been nominated for Exchange Magazine’s Emerging Leader in Early Care and Education award. The nominees will be reviewed by such notable education professionals as Louise Derman-Sparks, David Elkind, Margie Carter and Lilian Katz.
Jeanne has been teaching at Lindbergh since 1999. Over the years, her commitment to students, families, the ECE community, Lindbergh Schools and the larger early childhood community has been consistent.
“Jeanne's passion for teaching is contagious,” said Julianne Woodle, preschool coordinator. “You can see it in her students. It is not unusual to walk into the Giraffe Room and see every student engaged in student-driven, meaningful work.
"I have the benefit of seeing how students grow over the three years they are in our program and I can tell you that during the year they are with Jeanne, they shine. She creates a learning environment where students feel safe and valued and desire to do their best work."

Kennerly Kids Help Brave Patient Celebrate with More than 100 Birthday Cards
Kennerly Elementary School fifth-grade students made more than 100 birthday cards to help a brave young man in Washington celebrate his ninth birthday. Bubby Everson turned 9 on Feb. 11. He contracted a virus at birth called Cytomegalovirus, or CMV, which is usually harmless but in his case, is fatal. Bubby’s parents do not know how many birthdays their son will have, and they wanted to help him celebrate in a special way, so they opened a post office box to collect birthday wishes, stickers, Legos and video games for their little boy. Kennerly students learned about Bubby after watching a news story and wanted to help make his birthday extra special.
