Flyers Organize Successful Flood Relief Efforts
January 14, 2016
Hats off to the Lindbergh students and parents who found a creative way to help families affected by flooding this week. Lindbergh students districtwide raised $9,987 through a series of Hat Day events at each of the schools. Students brought in spare change, in exchange for wearing their favorite hat to school. The Lindbergh High School Alumni Association is donating $1,000 in addition to the student-raised total.
Parent leaders in the Concord Elementary School Parent Teacher Group spearheaded the effort. Concord had nine families affected by flooding, the most of any school in the district. Lindbergh counselors and social workers report that six families lost their homes districtwide, and several more experienced flood-related damage.
The Concord PTG is working closely with Lindbergh’s social worker to look at families’ needs and will provide assistance to families in the coming days and weeks. In addition, Lindbergh High School Student Council is holding a canned food and gift card drive at LHS to assist families in need.
