Superintendent's Message: Now, Let’s Soar
August 4, 2015
Lindbergh Schools is honored to provide high-quality education for all students, and the support we receive from our community is unparalleled. As we continue to proactively address rapid enrollment growth, residents have likely noticed quite a bit of construction going on around the district.
This fall, we are breaking ground on Dressel Elementary School, a 650-student building that will serve students in grades K-5. Our projections show that Dressel will be completely full when it opens in fall 2017.
Growth is headed toward Lindbergh High School, and to that end, we are doubling the cafeteria space at LHS, and replacing original bleachers and flooring in Gym 3. We’ve also added two science classrooms and will modernize the library.
Located behind Truman Middle School, Lindbergh Early Childhood Education West is opening this fall to serve the district’s youngest students, ages 2-5. LECE West is home to part-day preschool, while full-day early childhood education will remain at LECE’s main campus, next door to LHS.
Lindbergh continues to lead the state academically, earning Missouri’s No. 1 ranking for student achievement for five straight years. Seven Lindbergh schools are National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, and six are National Schools of Character. This year, Lindbergh High School’s graduating class earned 569 scholarships worth $15.1 million.
Our themes in recent years have reflected your generous community support through this transition of growth. First, we were “Spreading Our Wings,” then it was “Time to Fly.” “Now, Let’s Soar”! Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jim Simpson
Superintendent of Schools
