Strings Teacher Receives Statewide Recognition
March 23, 2021
Lindbergh Schools strings teacher Angela Dunsford was recently named the 2020-21 Missouri American String Teachers Association Outstanding Elementary Teacher during the virtual Missouri Music Educators Association Conference.
“There are many deserving recipients of this award, so I am humbled by the recognition. I teach with amazing colleagues, and we make a great team. We couldn’t do what we do without the support from our district, parents and our students. They are the ones that really help us shine!”
Angela Dunsford has been teaching for 21 years, and 17 of those years have been at Lindbergh Schools. She currently serves as the elementary strings program coordinator, teaches at Concord, Crestwood and Sappington elementary schools, and assists Sperreng and Truman strings students.
“Angela strives to always put the kids first and spends hours researching best practices and online resources to use with our Lindbergh team,” said Lindbergh Schools strings teacher Michelle Howard. “In addition to her elementary responsibilities, Angela is always available to assist at the secondary level when needed. We appreciate and value her as a member of our team, especially with using her talents during these unprecedented times.”
Dunsford is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Missouri Music Educators Association, American String Teachers Association and Sigma Alpha Iota Women’s Music Fraternity. She earned her master’s degree in String Pedagogy at Missouri State University and her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Central Missouri.
