Each year, Sperreng students choose a local group to support, building relationships and making a positive difference in the community in the process. This year, the teenage students discussed how they have experienced many of the same issues senior citizens often face regarding personal rights, personal freedom, and issues of transportation. The students decided that they would work this year to build positive relationships between the middle school students at Sperreng and the seniors living in their community. Several ideas, activities, and events are planned for the year.
Concord Continues Tradition of Sharing Songs
Fifth-grade students at Concord Elementary School continued a long tradition of sharing the gift of song his holiday season when they visited two nursing homes with music teacher Valerie Creech.
During the last week before winter break, children visited Friendship Village and Delmar Gardens to sing songs, give out holiday cards and share good cheer. This year, they even met a resident at Friendship Village who attended Concord Elementary many years ago!
