District Moves First Day of School to Thursday, Aug. 27
Aug. 12, 2020
The first day of school for Lindbergh K-12 students will now be on Thursday, Aug. 27, following a Board of Education vote to move back the start of school three days from its originally scheduled start date of Aug. 24. Students in grades K-3 will start the school year in Phase 2 of the district’s Green Light Plan, and students in grades 4-12 will start school in Phase 3.
This adjustment will provide additional professional learning time for teachers, to ensure a strong start to the school year. It will also give families more time to be introduced to the virtual platforms that will be used this year, and time to distribute devices to students. Students in Phase 2 will receive one day of in-person instruction during the first week of school. During this time, teachers can provide support and onboarding in advance of remote learning days.
The board reviewed the district’s first semester calendar during its Aug. 11 meeting, and approved the changes listed below. These changes will support preparations for the start of school and ensure equity for students in grades K-3 who are participating in the Phase 2 hybrid learning model.
