Flyers Excel at Synchronized Skating Competition

Four Lindbergh students brought home national honors following competition in the 16th annual Kalamazoo Kick Off Classic synchronized figure skating competition, Nov. 22 in Michigan. The girls are members of the St. Louis Synergy Synchronized Figure Skating club and competed against more than 170 teams from around the nation.
Long Elementary School third-grader Elizabeth Cleary and second-grader Sydney Thurmond compete on Synergy’s Beginner Team and placed third in their division.
Long third-grader Ella Shelton skates on the club’s Preliminary Team, which placed sixth in its division.
Finally, Truman Middle School sixth-grader Sadie Shelton’s Pre-Juvenile Team placed seventh in its division.

Sadie’s and Ella’s teams will compete in Wisconsin this January, followed by a late January trip to Portland where the girls will compete at the United States Figure Skating 2016 Midwestern and Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships. Elizabeth and Sydney’s team will compete in St. Peters, Mo., in January.
