Dan Arana has been a full-time band director in Lindbergh since 2000. Mr. Arana is the percussion director for all middle school bands at Sperreng Middle School and Truman Middle School. In the summer and fall he directs the battery section of the LHS Drumline. In the winter and spring, he co-directs the Lindbergh Middle School Drumline with Mr. Tim Linsenbardt. Mr. Arana assists with the Middle School Summer Band where he works with the Advanced Band, the rhythm section of the Jazz Band, and the Beginning Percussion Class. Mr. Arana writes the battery percussion music for the LHS Marching Band. Previous to teaching in Lindbergh, Mr. Arana taught the drumline at St. Charles West High School from 1996 through 1999. During that time, he composed/arranged drumline music for several St. Louis area marching bands.
Mr. Arana performed with the World Champion Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps in 1996 and 1997. He performed with several ensembles at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville while earning his bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During his senior year, he won the SIUE Aria and Concerto Contest on marimba, which included solo appearances with the SIUE Orchestra. In 2007, he earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar. His most recent performances were with local rock band 3West, and the St. Louis Battering Rams Drumline. Mr. Arana is a member of Percussive Arts Society and NAfME.
Mr. Arana lives in Maryland Heights with his wife Karen, his son, Ethan, and daughter, Emily.
