This is my thirteenth year of teaching and my 10th year in the Lindbergh School District, but this is my first year as a Reading Specialist! My previous ten years were spent in the English Language ARts class, but now I am excited I get to focus on fostering a love for reading!
I grew up in South County, but I was an Oakville Tiger... fellow rival to the Flyers! I earned my bachelor's degree in Middle School Communication Arts from the University of Missouri St. Louis in 2006. I also have my Maters in Educational Administration from Lindenwood University. In 2016, I earned my second Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, with an emphasis in Literacy. Being a Reading Specialist is my DREAM JOB. I struggled as a reader myself through middle and high school, so I understand the feelings of frustration and dislike my students may have for reading.
My husband, Tim and I just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary this past July. Tim is a fire fighter/paramedic. Since I was born and raised in St. Louis, there is no question about who my baseball loyalties are with - The St. Louis Cardinals. On many summer nights, you can find us at Busch Stadium watching them play. I also enjoy boating at Table Rock Lake and the beach in the summer. I am also a dog lover, and I have a Malti-Poo named Freddy, after Fredbird.
Teaching has always been my passion, and it is my hope that I can inspire my students, just as my teachers inspired me.
