Lemon-Aid Stand Honors Long Student
June 26, 2015
Students and families came together on June 13 to raise money for a Lindbergh family whose son passed away earlier this month.
Sarah Dooling and Natalie Evans worked with their siblings
to organize a “Lemon-Aid” Stand and Bake Sale, raising more than $2,000 for the
Jacob Swiderski Family Medical Fund. Jacob, 11, passed away following a courageous
nine-year battle with brain cancer. He was a student at Long Elementary School.
“Saturday’s event was both heartwarming and amazing,” said
parent Susan Dooling.
In addition to families donating baked goods, about 10 Truman
Middle School students volunteered to work at the stand, selling lemonade and
treats to passing cyclists and motorists in the Applebee’s parking lot by Grant’s
Trail.
